Drug and Alcohol Treatment Philosophy
For millennia
various forms of drugs and alcohol have
flourished in different societies around the
world. And for the nations that had laws against
the use of either drugs or alcohol, there have
been judicial sentences for the offenders. Some
societies have been extreme, killing the drug or
alcohol abuser for the crime while others have
locked them away indefinitely. There have been
many different philosophies as to how to deal
with drugs and alcohol.
Even today in American society, we have general
laws regarding the use of certain drugs, their
cultivation, distribution and use. Though
throughout history and regardless what the
negative consequences were to be, the drug
addict/ alcoholic has always found ways to
obtain what they wanted.
It wasn’t until
the advent of the 12 step program in the late
1930’s that drug addicts or alcoholics had
options other than jail, insanity or death.
Innumerable philosophies and facilities have
been born out of the 12 step program, but none
has been so overwhelmingly successful than those
that integrate the principles of 12 step program
into their own.
Here at Manor
house, we take these fundamental principles and
help the individual apply them to everyday
challenges. Over the course of our 28 day
program, an individual can learn to rely on the
tools taught in every session. We cover a wide
variety of topics in our daily sessions. Ranging
from the physiological effects alcohol and drugs
have on the human body to the coping skills
needed to live a sober life on a daily basis.
The care and consideration that has gone into
our program is the result of over forty years of
intensive work with alcoholics and drug addicts.
Our program consists of specifically designed
sessions to aid in the rehabilitation of a
person suffering from the disease of alcoholism
or drug addiction. With a relatively small
client/instructor ratio, group sessions are
extremely productive and provide the individual
with a comfortable and positive environment.
One of the key elements of our program is all of
our instructors know first hand what it takes to
get and stay sober. Living through the addiction
themselves, all of our instructors are in
recovery and have been sober for a number of
years. One drawback of other rehabilitation
centers is the inability to fully understand the
drug addict or alcoholic. Anyone can read about
the life of an alcoholic or drug addict but if
they have never lived it themselves, they will
never truly know the feelings, emotions, fears,
and thoughts of an alcoholic or drug addict.
Nothing is more fulfilling to someone who is
trying to get sober than to know the person they
are talking to has been through exactly what
they’re going through. Our instructors explain
what to expect in recovery, how to deal with
certain situations or individuals and how to
overcome temptations and remain sober. Every one
of our instructors is a pillar of support.
Here at the Manor house, we don’t just talk the
talk, we walk the walk. Our staff and
instructors care about every individual that
walks in our doors. We know first hand that
alcoholism and drug addiction is a life and
death issue. We realize that recovery is as
important for our clients as it is for us. We
don’t just believe in our program, we live it.
And you can too.
