Personalized Recovery Plan

One area where many treatment centers go wrong is by not preparing for the future of the newly sobered alcoholic or drug addict that leaves their facility. Some individuals, after completing a 28 day stay, feel thrust back into a world with little information to help them make the transition back home. Yes, they are sober but may feel afraid and alone once back in their old environment. They may have little idea of where to go or what to do. There may have been some suggestions made at the facility but little preparation in assisting the implementation of them. A key element in staying sober is action. Wishing and hoping that things will “just work out for the better” will not work. It hasn’t in the past and it won’t work now. It takes action to get results in sobriety. Just as it took action get drunk or get high, it takes action to get and stay sober. Leaving a newly sobered client on their own after leaving the facility is a disastrous and sometimes fatal flaw of many rehabilitation centers.

A personalized recovery plan is required for an individual to get sober and stay sober. Entering the Manor House, an evaluation of your circumstances gives us the opportunity to prepare a plan of action that you can take back home with you. We assist everyone that enters our facility in getting the help they need but also for when they go back home.

One thing we try to help every one of our clients remember is “you don’t have to do it alone anymore”. And that means we will be there to assist and guide you even after you have left our facility. Many former clients still talk with us today, some every week and others once a month. This way if a former client is unsure what to do we are there to help. We continue to have ongoing and close relationships with every person that enters and leaves our facility.

A personalized recovery plan consists of gathering information about you and your situation back home and writing out a plan of action to take with you. This way, when you go home you are fully prepared to deal with any situation or any individual that may cross your path. Before you leave our facility, we help you find a support group for you to attend, names and numbers of individuals from that group and even a temporary sponsor until you are able to find a permanent one. All of this and more is specifically put together to meet your needs.

There are some “cookie cutter” plans that many facilities try to implement in a generalized way, giving every client the same as the next. That would be okay if everyone were exactly the same, but we are not. When helping alcoholics and drug addicts, it is vital for us to get every aspect of your life into an objective point of view. We ask questions like: “What is in your life today that will benefit your recovery. What is in your life today that may be a detriment to your recovery?” This way, we are able to help you make the appropriate preparations on how to live life without drugs or alcohol. It isn’t an overnight matter. It may at times feel overwhelming but if you continue to stick to your personalized recovery plan, we guarantee that you will not fail.
