Long Term Drug Rehab
Long term drug rehab is an
extended stay over the time already spent at a
28 day facility. Some treatment facilities only
allow the allotted 28 days and then discharge
their clients. Other facilities offer what is
called a halfway house.
Some facilities offer an
extended intensive inpatient program. This is
usually what is considered to be long term drug
rehab. Instead of the 28 day program, the
facility may offer three month, six month,
eighteen month stays or possibly longer. The
client is monitored by the staff of the facility
and is helped in building a sober lifestyle
through real world responsibilities. Depending
on the client’s circumstances and situation, a
shorter or longer stay may be suggested. After
long term drug rehab, the client may have the
option to move into a halfway house near the
facility or near the client’s home.
Halfway houses are usually filled with people
trying to stay sober. They have completed an
initial 28 day program either through the
facility itself or an outside facility but have
decided to stay a while longer. Some individuals
chose to stay and others are required to stay by
the courts or family members. Every person is
different but circumstances are usually
relatively the same. It may be a matter of not
wanting to go back home to the environment they
were in. There may be certain reasons or
situations that would be too detrimental to
their sobriety if they were to go home, so they
opt to stay.
Sometimes people decide to
stay based on the fact that they’ve chosen to
relocate to where the halfway house is located,
leaving the old life behind them and beginning a
new one. The requirements of a halfway house
usually are: the individual will get a job,
attend meetings, stay active in the house’s
activities and remain sober. It is usually not
permanent housing but only temporary, sometimes
less than six months or a year.
Here at the Manor House, we
are not a halfway house but we do offer (for
special circumstances) the opportunity to stay
longer the usual 28 days. If you have admitted
yourself to our program and feel the need to
hone in on some particular issues that you feel
ill-prepared for when you go home, then the
option to stay longer is available. Of course, a
review of your situation by your instructors
will be required but we have never turned anyone
away that needed our help. In fact, we have had
numerous people stay longer and relocate close
to our facility after completing our program.
They are living happy, purpose-filled lives
today, free of alcohol and drugs.
As with any individual that
admits themselves to our facility, their
circumstances and situations back home need
special consideration. There are challenges that
everyone will face when leaving a treatment
facility and some are unable to respond to them
the same as everyone else. Not everyone that
goes to a treatment facility is required to stay
any longer than suggested. It is usually under
certain circumstances that a longer stay would
be needed. If you feel that a 28 day stay just
won’t do it for you, please don’t hesitate to
ask about an extended stay with us. We are here
to help you get and stay sober and are willing
to go to any length to ensure that you do.
