Recovery
It might seem strange for us
to recommend our competitors, but we have
found that competition is a good thing, not
a bad one. Many have gone before us and have
pioneered the path that leads to sobriety.
We must pay homage to those who stood the
test of time. We have all heard of Betty
Ford Clinic out in Palm Springs and the
countless lives that have been saved because
one brave women not only saved herself, but
took the twelveth step and saved others.
Their cost is about $21,000 for 28 days and
I believe it is worth every penny of it and
possibly a lot more if you consider how much
damage is done to a human life by being
drunk. But not all can afford the cost and
we feel that by reducing the cost, we can
help the greatest number of people who need
sobriety. Our cost is $10,000.
Any rehabilitation facility that is worth
it's salt, owes it's success to Alcoholics
Anonymous and their twelve step program. The
National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and
Alcoholism (NIAAA), a division of the
National Institute of Health (NIH) funded by
the United States Government Department of
Health and Human Services states that
?Virtually all alcoholism treatment programs
also include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
meetings. AA describes itself as a worldwide
fellowship of men and women who help each
other to stay sober.? If you find any
program, ANY, that does not include a twelve
step program and AA group meetings, Run, do
not walk, and get as far away from these
people as you can.
Now that being said, there have been other
programs that have based their
rehabilitation education on AA twelve steps
and built, expanded and improved the
educational process. Hazelden in Minnesota
and the Minnesota Model is a classic example
of this. Founded in 1949 in a rural
Minnesota lakeside farmhouse, it has grown
to a very large facility with about 600 or
more patients receiving treatment each month
or over 7,000 people each year going through
the program. The Department of Health
Services in their ADSS study came to the
conclusion that smaller group sessions of 10
to 12 were far more productive, far more
cost effective than large groups of twenty
to thirty participants. Hazelden is around
$25,000 and as we have stated before, you
can enter our program for as little as
$10,000. We have based our educational
program on Hazelton's Life of addiction to a
Life of Recovery 12 step program. It was
prepared by Drs. Jeffrey A. Hoffman Ph.D.,
Barry D. Caudill, Ph.D. and Mim Landry. The
program provides a comprehensive group
oriented treatment framework to be used in a
residential facility such as ours. Here are
